GGA Software Services Establishes SharePoint Center of Excellence
Cambridge, MA, USA – April 16, 2013 - GGA Software Services, a leading provider of scientific informatics services, has established a SharePoint Center of Excellence to focus on collaboration for the life sciences and healthcare industries. The Center leverages GGA’s software engineering expertise and its sophisticated problem-solving capabilities to unleash the power of Microsoft® SharePoint® for global corporations.
“Microsoft SharePoint can enable life science customers to more efficiently find information, share data and collaborate across organizational boundaries,” said Les Jordan, Chief Technology Strategist of Microsoft Life Sciences. “GGA’s SharePoint Center of Excellence recognizes the business value that SharePoint solutions can bring and delivers that business value in an impactful way.”
GGA’s SharePoint Center of Excellence provides a global collaboration resource that empowers today’s R&D organizations to share information more broadly than ever before. Many life science companies are embracing SharePoint as their default collaboration platform across the enterprise. To take full advantage of SharePoint, scientists need to integrate scientific data – such as chemical and biological structures and sequences, spectra, and complex images – seamlessly into the SharePoint platform. By providing GGA’s clients with customized, centralized hubs for collecting and sharing scientific information, the Center offers a critical solution that will enhance client productivity.
“Research, pre-clinical science, and clinical trial groups have been seeking ways to use the power of SharePoint portals to provide a consistent overview of the drug discovery and development process,” said GGA’s President and CEO Richard Golob. “We responded to that need with our SharePoint Center of Excellence. We are now helping our clients with the design, implementation, management, and support of effective and robust SharePoint deployments.”
GGA’s scalable team of SharePoint professionals helps to manage a client’s SharePoint platforms and to deliver the client’s SharePoint applications either remotely or on-site. GGA offers support for the entire lifecycle, including requirements gathering, custom SharePoint development, system deployment and configuration, SharePoint operational support and administration, and end-user support at Levels 1-4.
GGA’s SharePoint Center of Excellence includes team members with a wide range of SharePoint specific skills, including:
- Consultants who help advise users and clients about the most effective ways to use SharePoint
- Administrators who provide operational support for a client’s SharePoint environment
- Software engineering teams (project managers, developers, QA specialists, and technical writers) who develop custom SharePoint solutions to augment out-of-the-box functionality
- Content and software engineers who specialize in migrating data and applications from existing systems, such as Lotus Notes and Documentum, into SharePoint and who undertake migrations from SharePoint 2007 and SharePoint 2010 to SharePoint 2013
- End-user support professionals who provide help-desk support for the SharePoint environment.
Golob said that “GGA’s SharePoint clients appreciate not only GGA’s sophisticated approach to providing solutions but also our team’s nimbleness and flexibility in delivering solutions.” According to Golob, “In many cases, clients need to undertake a series of relatively small SharePoint projects, and they value GGA’s ability to change rapidly from one project to another and, at the same time, maintain superior quality.”
